Now that Slack and Zoom are IPO’d/ing in 2019, we finally can learn a lot about the 2 fastest growing SaaS apps of this cohort. Slack went from $0 to $600m in ARR in 6 years, and is now growing 80%! And Zoom rocketed to $450m+ in ARR, growing at 100%+ year-over-year! Both started off in a somewhat similar place, as freemium, muchly self-service products. But as time as gone on, they have become much more different than you might think:
- Slack has become much more enterprise than Zoom. Slack has almost 600 enterprise customers paying $100k or more, and those deals now account for 40% of its revenue.
